Profile
Rinn Jewellery Collection
We strive for our designs to be memorable, timeless items, that people always love to wear. The material used in this design is a type of natural cotton, which is processed using special techniques and skilled Japanese craftmanship to create pearls with silk-like lustre. An innovative product combining sustainability and craftsmanship.

Cotton Pearl
Rinn jewellery was founded by our London-based art consultant and producer Betty Lutyens-Humfrey in 2023. She was inspired by her environmentally conscious daughter and family and the idea came to her to use natural or sustainable materials, and working with skilled craftsmen, to create a new series of hand-made luxury jewellery. Cotton pearl jewellery is our first product.
The raw material used for our first "Rinn" jewellery product is a type of cotton, which through special processing techniques is made into pearls with a silk-like lustre.
The cotton is naturally derived and environmentally friendly, replicating natural pearls through its high-quality, delicate texture.

Unveiling Cotton Pearls
Cotton pearls (made by compressing cotton into spherical shapes) perhaps have now become widely recognised, but it was not until 2007 that they became known to the public; a fashion designer in Japan discovered their existence when finding unused cotton pearls in a warehouse since 1960’, and began using them for their fashion shoots.

The Rediscovery of Cotton Pearls
These cotton pearls were manufactured in Japan in the 1960s, but were quickly overlooked and forgotten, being stored in a warehouse for a long time. They have a warm lustre, similar to that of real pearls, and they are astonishingly lightweight, bringing their own fresh charm. They were therefore introduced as type of fashion accessory. With limited stock, the fashion designer sought out technicians and workshops capable of producing new cotton pearls, and reinitiated production in Japan.

Legacy Renewed
We are fortunate enough to have acquired some of the remaining raw materials from the 1960s. In our first series of “Rinn” accessories, the cotton pearls we use are not only limited to vintage stock, but also include freshly manufactured ones.

The Timeless Glow of Elegance
Unlike pure white pearls, our cotton pearls possess a warm hue, ranging from off-white to champagne gold. Due to our rigorous quality management, each pearl is beautifully made. We believe this unique material should be carefully preserved, allowing it not just a fleeting existence but a beautiful long life.
